What is Throw It Down about?
We're still learning.
It's about that one Bluecoat,
That smallest unit of intent.
One aching step to one precise dot
Then another and another.
A Unity of purpose in a family of 135 Zen Masters.
What it takes to put yourself out on the line.
To Throw It Down for 80 days of pain and glory.
In that one glorious summer of your life.
AUTUMN LEAVES - 360 SHOT DIRECTOR THOUGHTS We gathered with the corps after one of their shows in Texas. Drum Major Joe Beitman started to hum, so we knew something was up. The corps was forming in a circle. As the corps started to sing, John Maher, Director/Camera, Pete Stewart, Soundman and Jason (JROD) got in the middle of the group. We realized after we started that they were singing their very emotional corps song, “Autumn Leaves”. We just started tracking around the circle, lingering on some of the face we knew and came around back to Joe Beitman at the end of the song, all in one shot. It is one of our favorite moments in Throw It Down. This is amazing, I thought, we captured the heart of Drum Corps in one shot. The faces and the body language tell the story. Then it was on to the next shot.
